Dylan Hayes

Biography

Dylan Hayes is originally from San Francisco, and began playing piano at the age of seven. He attended an arts school in Novato, California, Marin School of the Arts, where he started playing in a rock band. As time progressed, he joined the school’s top jazz band and realized that jazz was the direction he wanted to take in his career as a musician. He continued his studies at Cornish College of the Arts from which he graduated from in 2019, and was able to study with Dawn Clement, Jim Knapp, Jovino Santos Neto, and Marina Albero.

Dylan’s piano playing has brought him to share the stage with top tier musicians in both San Francisco and Seattle such as Jay Thomas, David Marriott, Evan Flory-Barnes and former member of Art Blakey’s jazz messengers, Chris Amberger.

Dylan’s debut record “Songs For Rooms And People” was released on Blujazz Productions on March, 2020. His debut record is one of the top ten jazz albums of 2020 in The Seattle Times. A new band that Dylan co-leads called “Meridian Odyssey” will be releasing their debut album in January, 2021 on Origin Records.

Dylan has also taken over the big band book of renowned composer Jim Knapp and has been revitalizing the group in Seattle. He also co-leads a group with Xavier Lecouturier called the DX-Tet featuring Seattle’s best musicians.
