The Love Markets

Biography

Welcome to the world of The Love Markets. Inspired by the artists of 1920s Weimar Berlin, The Love Markets make songs of love and revolution laced with political bite and exuberant soul, luring you down alleys and into speakeasies brimming with subversion.

“Irresistible… Intoxicating…A deliciously dark carnival.”
– Seattle Magazine

In 2013, The Love Markets released WORLD OF YOUR DREAMS, drawing critical praise for a debut album that managed to include both an elegy for the dead and a risqué ode to wiener schnitzel. Songwriter Angie Louise’s emotionally rangy vocals and storytelling luxuriated in the sounds of Robertson Witmer’s shape-shifting accordion, David Marriott Jr.’s adventurous trombone, Dave Pascal’s dexterously juicy bass, and drummer Chris Monroe’s sinuous rhythms.

“Ruffle-clad ruffians… Louise is a singer, songwriter and actress with fearsome chops.”
– City Arts Magazine

The band’s second release, BEAUTY FACTORY (2016), investigated the machinery of modern life, armed with rollicking grooves and a seductively sinister opening lyric: “Step up, miss! Here in the factory, the gates are always open… Don’t resist! To be made whole again, you’ll first need to be broken…”

“A perfect inside look at our desires to re-model ourselves…Louise and her bandmates are unique among talents.”
– Seattle Gay Scene

“Sultry cabaret rhythms and a revolutionary’s hankering to take down the system.”
– Jet Space Magazine
