Music for Paul: A Concert in Memory of Paul Taub

Sunday, May 30th at 4:00 pm PDT

Please join us for the memorial of flutist Paul Taub, who passed away on March 13.

Paul Taub was one of today’s leading interpreters of contemporary music. He was a long-time Professor of Music at Cornish College of the Arts and a presenter of innovative concerts with repertoire ranging from Bach to Takemitsu to Peteris Vasks. He performed widely across North and Central America, Europe, and Asia, appearing in many storied venues on those continents.

Taub’s passion for new music remained incandescent to the end. He had been planning to perform a world premiere at the spring festival held by the Seattle Flute Society, where he served as director-at-large; he had twice been president of the organization in previous years. He had also been on the boards of directors of Chamber Music America and the National Flute Association.

For more than twenty years he was the flutist and Executive Director of the Seattle Chamber Players, commissioning over 100 new works and performing in many major European cities as well as presenting over 100 concerts in Seattle. Throughout his life he touched many people with his infectious musical presence and spirit. Please join us as we remember him through multiple performances by Seattle artists, many of whom have written pieces for Paul.
